What I've Learned Training Car Salespeople for 10+ Years
# What I've Learned Training Car Salespeople for 10+ Years
By Champion Sales Training & Events | July 2026
After a decade of training automotive sales teams, here's what I know:
- Talent is overrated. Process wins every time. The most "natural" salesperson gets crushed by someone less talented who follows a system.
- The greeting makes or breaks the deal. First 30 seconds. Every time.
- Needs assessment is the step most people skip — and it's the one that separates the 12% closers from the 25% closers.
- Objections are buying signals. A customer who objects is engaged. The one who nods along and leaves was never buying.
- Follow-up is where the money is. The sale begins when the customer leaves, not when they arrive.
- Training must be consistent. One seminar = zero long-term impact. Daily 2-minute drills = compounding improvement.
- Managers need data. "How's it going?" is not coaching. "You haven't completed the closing module — let's talk about that" is coaching.
I built a full training platform around these principles: 33 modules, 2 minutes each, complete with manager dashboard and tracking.
The Platform That Embodies These Principles
